Address labels are there to make our lives much easier. You wouldn’t want to be stuck all day writing your name and address in different envelopes now, would you? Despite its usefulness and convenience, a lot of people still find it hard to make one—especially if it’s a recipient address label. In cases such as these, you can’t have a ready made label because you have different recipients. This is one of the major differences between a return address label and a recipient address label.
So how can we make an address label the easy way?
Aesthetics put aside, these labels are actually easy to do. First, you have to save all your important names and addresses in a database so that you no longer need to put them one by one in your label template. Also, it makes for an easier retrieval in the future. In saving this kind of file, you will need a mail merge function which is present in most word processing softwares like Microsoft Word. The good thing about these mail merge functions is that they can tell whether an address or a name has been entered twice—it will prompt you so that you can replace or delete the wrong entry. Once you completed your mailing database, then you are already halfway there.
The next thing to do is to find a design for your label. This is actually the easiest part as there are a number of designs you can choose online. There are also shops that provide you with customized labels so it’s all up to you. Of course there are graphic softwares you can buy to create your own label. If you choose the latter, you will need some stickers to print them into—unless you want to use paper and glue and manually stick them to the envelope which would eat a lot of your time. Once you’ve made a label template, just retrieve the addresses from your mailing database and print. Sticker pads and sticker rolls are readily available in your local office supplies store so it would not be a problem. But take note, you must align you sticker pads to the printer correctly—if it doesn’t come in regular sizes that the software you are using can format (a normal A4 size sticker pad would do). This is very important if you are using sticker rolls. Just a few more clicks and the label is done. Depending on the surface of your sticker, the ink will dry in seconds.
Sending mails the traditional way will take a lot of effort as compared to just sending an e-mail to someone. But this is what makes it more appealing. The mere fact that you exerted effort in writing and sending these messages already put some premium to these letters. An effort, no matter how big or small is still an effort. And this is what really matters—not the design you used for your label or the shortcuts you took to accomplish the task faster and easier. Address labels are just icing on the cake.
